Rotational Printing Process
How Rotational Printing Works
1. ETCHING
First, the desired image or text is photo-etched into the steel printing plate.
2. INKING
The ink reservoir then floods the plate with ink.
3. DOCTORING
After ink has been applied, the doctor blade passs over, which forces the ink into the etched areas of the plate. At the same time, it clears ink from the unetched areas.
4. INK TRANSFER
The remaining ink on the plate becomes tacky quickly, allowing it to be picked up by the soft sillcone pad as it rolls against the plate.
5. PRINTING
The inked image is then transferred from pad to product. The flexibility of the pad allows it to conform to textures and other surface irregularities on the product.
